Meet Mr. Cook

I am thrilled to be returning to Angevine Middle School as a 7th & 8th grade language arts and social studies teacher this year! I was born and grew up (mostly) in Oklahoma, but spent a good deal of my childhood here in Colorado, which I guess makes me a “semi-native.” After attending CSU in Fort Collins for my BA in Political Science, I started my career in education as a middle school teacher at a K-8 school in Pueblo. At the same time, I worked as a youth pastor for my local church's middle and high schoolers, and volunteered with the Pueblo County Search & Rescue Team. During the eleven years I spent in Southern Colorado, I earned my MA in American History from CSU-Pueblo, married my wife, Alyson, and that's where we had our first child, Emily. I then spent two years teaching 6th Grade in Denver, before coming to BVSD.  Two years ago we welcomed our new son, Weston, into the family, and both kids are making me prouder and prouder every day. I'm very excited to be working in Boulder Valley, a short drive from Longmont, where we live with our two dogs. Outside of school, I enjoy doing just that—being outside. My family and I usually spend our weekends skiing, hiking, camping, riding motorcycles, or just walking to the park, so Boulder County is the perfect fit for us. I'm also coaching football & track at Angevine this year, so be sure to look for me on the sidelines as well as in the classroom. Go Bobcats!
